Site policy

Editorial policy

How mortgage information and calculators are researched, presented, reviewed, and corrected.

Source standard

Rules and consumer protections are based primarily on the responsible regulator or government body, including FSRA, FCAC, and OSFI. Secondary sources may help identify a question but should not be the sole authority for a regulatory statement.

Calculator standard

Calculators state their assumptions and show estimates rather than approval outcomes. Comparison tools should account for both cash flow and principal remaining so a lower payment is not presented as automatic savings.

Review schedule

Every substantive page displays a review date. Regulatory claims and calculation assumptions should be rechecked at least every six months and sooner after a relevant rule, policy, or product-limit change.

Corrections

Material errors should be corrected promptly. The affected page should be substantively reviewed again rather than merely changing its displayed date.

Scope

The site provides general education. It does not determine approval, replace a mortgage commitment, or provide legal, tax, appraisal, or individualized mortgage advice.
